Eden Hotel Früh Am Dom

Love this place. A few minutes from the Cologne train station and smack next to Dom cathedral. It’s a cosy hotel around the corner from the Fruh brewery and restaurant. Literally across from the Dom complex. Paid parking close by and notably the nearest is below the Dom complex- walk a few steps and down the access stairs- that’s it. Lobby is staffed 24 hours and good coffee - swipe your room key and enjoy. Rooms are surprisingly spacious. Clean, comfortable and quiet. You will love hearing the church bells once in a while. Walk to Heumarket, shopping and plenty of food choices. Staff are super friendly. Great breakfast spread in the morning.

Location is great for the Christmas markets. Rooms are basic but functional. pillows in the room as MANY other reviews confirm are absolutely shocking. There’s nothing to them and also no spares provided in the room so you can’t even stack up a few. Ended up folding jumpers from my case to try and get some support. Also there was (presumably a staff Christmas party) going on the 6th floor until the early hours. We were on floor 5 and it was ridiculous how noisy it was. Spoiled my nights sleep completely.

This hotel in Cologne is decent, with easy access to the Central station and the city’s main attractions. However, upon checking in, we were mistakenly assigned a different room than advertised. The room we were given was old, rusty, and noisy due to construction work next door. On the bright side, the bed was quite comfortable, so we didn’t have any major complaints.

I am sitting in our room 411 at 10:20am with my sister experiencing the thrill of the construction that is going on at this very moment at the hotel next door believing that perhaps they are also doing construction on our room. Our bed is shaking along with the walls! It started at 7:15am. We keep saying to each other that it is a good thing we are going out and about to see the Christmas markets and the city. Stay tuned for more about this no frills hotel. ☺️😂

First stay we had a room facing the market. Second visit a week later they put us far far away where our view was the AC on the roof right out our window. No fridge wasn’t good. Breakfast was really good but as others mentioned, the receptionist had an attitude and kind of rude. Not sure we will stay again.

The hotel was in a great location, right by the cathedral and close to the shopping district and mainline train station. The room was big, spacious and clean. However unfortunately at the moment there is a lot of construction work happening behind the hotel where our room was and it was very hard to sleep with such loud noises from 7am we also had to leave the windows open as it was very warm and there was no air conditioning in the room which also didnt help.There was a free coffee machine available to make hot drinks in the lobby to take to the room however it wasnt always working when we needed it.Otherwise good value hotel.

Well, I have to say the hotel went from 2 stars to 5+ overall because of the customer service of the staff. I am an American, and a Floridian at that, and we like our air conditioning. I found all the rooms do not have AC. I was miserable and very unhappy and contemplated an uncomfortable and terrible night’s sleep. I wrote a very nice email requesting a changing of rooms for the following night. The young lady that works nights at the front desk called me immediately. She offered two fans for the first night, and it made all the difference in the world! Plus, I was able to get an AC room for my second night, it was very comfortable and perfect in every way, Of course, the location is also perfect. However, the staff makes all the difference. Perfect and convenient location near the rail station and cathedral and Christmas Markets. We walked everywhere from this location in Cologne. The attached brewery is an added bonus.
